CIRES was founded in 1960 as a joint venture between Portuguese companies and two Japanese industrial companies, constituting Europe´s first industrial joint venture. In Portugal, it was a pioneer in the manufacture of thermoplastic materials.
The company has been constantly and successively updating its industrial facilities, having one of the most modern and competitive industrial units in Europe.
On August 14, 2009, the founding shareholder Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. assumed the totality of the capital of CIRES, the Company being currently part of the Shin-Etsu Group, the world´s largest PVC producer.
In 2016, Bamiso put out to tender the contract for the design and construction of the new Cogeneration Plant for the CIRES facilities, in Esterreja.
Using the exhaust gases of a Kawasaki GPB80D natural gas turbine, we designed an Energest® Recovery Boiler (HRSG), model HDM-FC, of the mixed-circulation type, with a fully refrigerated furnace capable of producing 35 T/h of saturated steam at 10 barg in Post-combostion (PC) mode or 14 T/h in Recovery mode (TEG).
The supplementary combustion system consists of an “air-vein” burner of the “FIVES PILLARD” brand with a power of 15 MWt.
The boiler is equipped with an economizer and final heat recuperator, capable of supplying, depending on the mode and the load, up to about 1 MWt to the thermal deaerator.
The boiler is prepared to operate in the future as a conventional boiler, producing the same 35 T/h of saturated steam at 10 barg, by simply adapting a combustion system with adequate power and characteristics.
Part of the project was the supply of an Energest® Thermal Deaerator with a degassing capacity of 20 T/h, with a 20 m3 degasser water tank capacity and a Gas Exhaust System that ends in a self-stable chimney, built in carbon steel S235JR, with a height of 27 meters and a diameter of 1900mm.
The Cogeneration Plant came into full operation in March 2018.
Colquímica Adhesives was founded in 1953, being the first company in Portugal to produce water-based glues.
The company has invested in updating its infrastructures, thereby improving production and research, in order to maintain leadership in the sector.
In March 2021 the new industrial unit was launched in Charlotte, North Carolina, in the United States of America, in order to reduce the distance between the company and the customers, and to consolidate its global presence.
Colquímica Adhesives launched its new industrial unit in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States of America.
Energest was responsible for the design and installation of the thermal oil feeding system for the industrial process, including an OMV 1500 / GM boiler, expansion tank, collection tank and thermal oil deaerator.
The cooling water circuit has an Adiabatic Aero-Cooler from Evapco, with a cooling capacity of 380kW.
